Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, the chairman of Geregu Power PLC, has pledged $3 million to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

Otedola made this known on Friday via his Twitter handle.

“I will be contributing 1 Billion Naira towards the eradication of COVID-19 aross Nigeria. We must all do what we can to flatten the curve,” he said.

Over the years, Otedola has developed a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most prominent philanthropists. In November last year, he donated $14 million to the Save the Children Fund through his daughter, DJ Cuppy’s Foundation, to support various intervention programmes for destitute children in Nigeria’s north-east region.

It is still the single largest individual donation to charity in Nigeria’s history.
