Billionaire Mike Adenuga’s Son To Be Arrested Over Custody Battle

Nigerian billionaire Mike Adenuga’s son might soon be arrested over a custody battle with his former lover.

According to a news report by Punch, Lagos state Court has ordered the arrest of Eniola Adenuga, the son of Nigerian billionaire Mike Adenuga.

T.A. Elias, the Chief Judge of the Tinubu Chief Magistrate’s court in Lagos in a ruling on Thursday, August 16, 2018, said the 28-year-old was in contempt of court for refusing to give the custody of his daughter, Anthena, to the mother, Damilola Ogun.

Elias said Eniola should be arrested until he gives full custody of the subject (Anthena) to the respondent (Damilola).

Damilola Ogun and Eniola Adenuga had dated for a  few years during which the 25-year-old became pregnant and had the child. The two lovers subsequently had a series of disagreements which resulted in a legal battle for the custody of the child. In September 2017, the Magistrate’s Court gave an interim order which awarded the custody of the child to the mother, while the billionaire’s son was given unrestricted access to the child. Eniola Adenuga was also asked to pick her every Friday and return her to the mother on Sunday.

The court noted that Eniola Adenuga had complied with the arrangement until May 18, 2018, when he allegedly took Athena from school and failed to return her to the mother. Damilola Ogun subsequently engaged the services of the Falana & Falana Chambers, a leading Nigerian law firm, who immediately wrote a petition to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, accusing Eniola of abduction. Funmi Falana, a partner at the law firm, filed an ex parte application on the 25th f May, 2018, seeking the release of the child to the mother, Damilola Ogun. In her application, she explained that Damilola had been traumatized by the incident, and was afraid for her child’s safety. The application was granted by a Judge, Mrs M.R. Osho-Adebiyi, who ordered Eniola to produce the child. Eniola was further ordered to appear before the court to explain why he should not be charged for contempt of court.

Eniola Adenuga is one of eight children of Nigerian billionaire Mike Adenuga. Mike Adenuga, who is Nigeria’s second richest man according to both Forbes magazine and Bloomberg, has a net worth estimated at around $4 billion. He made his  fortune in telecoms, banking and oil.
